Feel Fresher for
Longer

Studies show that poor gum health can increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke and more. In fact, new evidence showing a link between oral and general health is emerging all the time.

That’s why we believe it’s more important than ever to make sure healthy smiles stay that way.

Our hygiene appointments revolve around preventative care, including deep cleaning, polishing and advice on keeping smiles healthy and fresh – 24/7.

And if you already live with symptoms like bad breath, sore and bleeding gums or plaque and tartar build-up, it’s not too late to turn things around. Ask us about a bespoke treatment plan to return you to the best and brightest of smile health.

Why Choose Hygiene from West Dental?

When it comes to hygiene, the devil is in the detail. Our team uses the latest dental hygiene and deep-clean technology to clean both teeth and gums thoroughly.

Half an hour or less is all it takes to get rid of surface stains and plaque deposits – leaving you with that fresh-from-the-dentist feeling that everyone loves. Just one or two visits to our team each year is enough to preserve the freshness all year round.

And there’s another reason why West Dental patients are among Scotland’s healthiest and happiest: We’ve linked our hygiene clinic to a unique wellbeing service to help you harmonise oral and lifestyle health with advice on smoking cessation, stress, diet, sleep and much more.

What to Expect

icon

If it’s your first time, we’ll thoroughly assess your smile before undertaking any treatments.

icon

We’ll begin by checking for gum disease, plaque buildup and other causes for concern before putting together your personalised treatment plan.

icon

We usually start treatment right there and then, beginning with a gentle yet powerful scale and polish from the clinic’s ultrasonic scaler. This uses a water jet to remove plaque and other debris – targeting even those particles which are too small to see.

icon

Finally, we’ll finish off with a polish to remove any surface staining and leave your smile gleaming.

If we’ve spotted any signs of gum disease or other issues, we may recommend further treatment.

At the end of your appointment, your smile will be feeling fantastically refreshed and rejuvenated, and you can leave our clinic with your smile wide and your head held high.

Hygiene FAQs

  • Yes. As well as keeping up a great oral hygiene routine by simply brushing and flossing daily, you should also visit your dentist twice a year as well as a hygienist twice a year for intensive cleans to make sure your smile is the healthiest it can be.

  • Not at all. You can make an appointment directly with one of our hygienists without seeing a dentist first. Our hygienists can carry a range of treatments to address any concerns you have about your oral health.
