You may not have heard of porcelain veneers, but you have almost certainly seen them before.
As one of the cornerstone treatments of a smile makeover, porcelain veneers are a favourite of Hollywood stars and A-list celebs.
Like all great ideas, this one is simple. A porcelain veneer is like an ultra-thin shell that’s fitted over a tooth to mask damage like breakages, wear, chips and discolouration.
Porcelain veneers not only protect the teeth from further wear and damage but also provide a brilliant and lustrous lift to the smile.
When it comes to dental restorations, few materials are as versatile, lifelike and hard-wearing as porcelain.
Just like natural tooth enamel, porcelain has a brilliant and natural translucency. It’s also incredibly hard-wearing and resistant to staining.
And because we use the latest in digital 3D imagery and CAD-CAM to produce each porcelain veneer, we can design a smile that’s all you. Our cosmetic dentistry team can even show you an accurate smile preview before you’ve even sat down in the chair for treatment.
Getting Porcelain Veneers
We’ll start by taking digital impressions of your smile and use these to design your veneers. Our 3D imaging software lets us precision plan and preview your treatment – so there are no surprises later on.
We’ll hand the digital images to technicians in our laboratory, who will use computer-aided design and manufacture (CAD-CAM) to produce your stunning, custom made porcelain veneers.
Once we’ve received your veneers back from the lab, we’ll lightly prepare your teeth and fit your new veneers. We’ll give the veneers a final shaping and polishing for the most beautiful results.
Porcelain Veneers FAQs
Your veneers could last decades if you look after them well. They require the same maintenance as your natural teeth – brushing twice a day, flossing and using mouthwash.
With veneers, you can opt for all-out Hollywood perfection or something a little more natural. Friends may complement your amazing smile but they needn’t know you have veneers.
Porcelain is stain-resistant and incredibly hard-wearing. If well looked after, your veneers should last for decades. However, there is a good chance they will need replacing eventually.
No, you don’t. You can get as little as one veneer to cover just one tooth if you wish. We can help you decide what’s best for your smile, and you can make an informed decision on whether you want single veneers or several.
